LET US HELP
What is the weight range?
BUCKLE CARRIER:
The best gauge for a proper fit, aside from any recommendations made by your healthcare provider, is how high your baby sits in the carrier.
Our Monarch Buckle Carrier can be used once your baby is tall enough for at least the middle of their ear to sit above the head panel. While physical testing requirements may list the carrier as suitable from 7–35 lbs or 9–45 lbs (depending on your carrier version), we find the safest fit typically begins around 9 lbs minimum.
If needed, you can raise the placement of the waistband higher on your belly to give your baby additional lift above the panel. This helps ensure baby’s face remains visible and their airway can be properly monitored at all times.
No matter the listed weight range on your carrier, our guidance remains the same: the middle of baby’s ear should be at or above the top of the panel when worn.

TODDLER SLING:
Our Monarch Toddler Sling is designed for toddlers who can already sit independently and have good core and neck control.
We typically recommend the sling for toddlers around 16 lbs and up.
Unlike our buckle carriers, the toddler sling is not intended to be a fully hands-free baby carrier. It is designed to help support your child’s weight during quick up-and-down moments while still allowing you to keep one arm around your child as needed.
What is the size range for the wearer?
Both the Buckle Carriers and Toddler Slings fit sizes 0-24 or XS-3XL
Our fully adjustable shoulder and waist straps ensure you and baby can achieve the perfect fit at almost every size.
(Waistband extends up to 55" and is intended to be worn high on the natural waist.)
What is the material of the carriers and slings?
Our everyday luxury carriers and slings are composed of a super soft (baby skin friendly!) and breathable 88% cotton/12% linen blend or 100% cotton, depending on the color. See item description!
Are the Monarch Buckle Carrier and Monarch Toddler Sling hip safe?
Yes!
Our carriers are carefully designed with hip safety in mind and have been evaluated by multiple pediatric orthopedic surgeons and physical therapists.
It is important to remember that hip safety comes down to correct positioning in any carrier. It is essential to achieve a deep seat or “M” position, with baby’s knees higher than their bum, and weight supported primarily by the bum, rather than under the knees.
We always recommend consulting your pediatrician or specialist for recommendations specific to your child's needs!
Check that your baby is in this deep seat position each time you place them in the carrier.
IS THE MONARCH FOUND ON THE IHDI HIP SAFE CARRIER LIST?
The IHDI Hip Safe Products approval list is, sadly, discontinued and has been since before the release of the Monarch Buckle Carrier and Toddler Sling. Because of this, we have not had the opportunity to receive this acknowledgement. However, our carriers were designed with and were evaluated against (by our pediatric orthopedic surgeon evaluator) the IHDI guidelines, and we of course plan to apply if/when they are back to approving new products.
The IHDI reccomends carriers that achieve the "M" position to ensure hip safety while babywearing. The Monarch Carrier is designed to support baby's weight in the "M" position, and is adjustable to help you acheive proper positioning for your baby's size. You can always consult with your pediatrician or specialist for advice on your individual child's needs.
What carry positions can the Monarch Buckle Carrier do?
FRONT, INWARD FACING (babies of all ages)
BACKPACK (for babies 6mo+ who can sit up independently)
FRONT, OUTWARD FACING* (only for babies 6 months+ who can sit up independently, and are tall enough for chin to clear the head support panel.)
*Best for shorter periods of wear time, up to 20 minutes. Always turn baby inward when sleeping.
See our HOW TO page for detailed videos on how to safely and comfortably achieve each position!
How do I clean and care for my products?
Spot clean as necessary with water only.
Hand wash or machine wash on cold, hand wash cycle (or delicate if your machine doesn't have that) in garment bag or a pillowcase tied shut to protect hardware.
If using any stain remover or detergent, rinse out immediately. Note that some stain removers cause bleaching on darker colors. Some stain removers may discolor fabric if left on (specifically Dream Wash Denim due to the nature of the wash on this fabric).
Reshape and lay flat or place on drying rack to dry. Dry in a well-ventilated area until all padding and fabric is fully dry. You can put a fan on the carrier to expedite drying, but do not put the carrier in the dryer.
We recommend spot cleaning where possible, and keeping washes in the washing machine to a minimum for best longevity!
