At Mabē, your baby's safety comes first. Every Monarch Carrier is independently tested by accredited third-party labs against the mandatory safety standards in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, and the European Union — from the fabric and hardware to the labeling on every tag. Here's what that actually covers.

What We Test For

Every carrier is evaluated across a full range of safety categories, including:

  • Choking hazards, like small parts and loose fibers
  • Sharp points and edges
  • Flammability
  • Lead, cadmium, and phthalates — restricted substances sometimes found in dyes, plastics, and hardware
  • Buckle and hardware strength
  • Seam and construction integrity
  • Required warning labels and care instructions

Meets Global Safety Standards

We test to the specific standard required in each market we sell to, not just a general baseline:

  • United States — the mandatory juvenile-product safety standard (ASTM F2236) and CPSIA requirements, plus state-specific laws including California's Prop. 65.
  • European Union & UK — the CEN/TR 16512 guidelines for children's slings and carriers, REACH compliance (validated through OEKO-TEX certification) for restricted substances, and GPSR requirements, including a registered EU Responsible Person, required safety labeling, and technical documentation we keep on file for 10 years.
  • Canada — Health Canada's textile labelling law, plus heavy-metal, phthalate, and flammability regulations.

Quality You Can Trace

Every Monarch Carrier is labeled with its batch number, lot number, and date and location of manufacture. That traceability lets us monitor quality, catch anything unusual early, and keep improving the product — it's also how we register and track incident reports internationally, so any safety concern gets documented and addressed.

Ongoing Quality Assurance

Testing isn't a one-time box to check. We run regular manufacturing inspections, fabric and material audits, and OEKO-TEX audits, and we track product feedback and returns through our own defect-monitoring process, alongside a formal incident-reporting system tied into the EU's Safety Gate. If something needs improving, we hear about it and act on it so that you have the best experience babywearing.
