HIP SAFETY

Hip safety comes down to correct positioning in any carrier, so it is essential to achieve the deep seat or “M” position- with baby’s knees higher than their bum, and weight supported primarily by the bum, rather than under the knees. Check that your baby is in this deep seat position each time you place them in the carrier.

TIGHT

Your carrier should be tight and hug baby close to your body. Ensure that you tighten straps to eliminate extra slack that could cause baby to slump down in the carrier, as this can hinder breathing.

IN VIEW AT ALL TIMES

You should always be able to see your baby’s face by simply glancing down. Do not eclose baby in carrier in such a way that you have to open the carrier to see baby’s face.

CLOSE ENOUGH TO KISS

Your baby’s head should be as close to your chin as is comfortable. Achieve this by positioning the carrier high on the natural waist. You should be ableto kiss your baby on the head or forehead easily.

KEEP CHIN OFF CHEST

Baby should never be curled in such a way that their chin is forced onto their chest as this can restrict the airway. Ensure there is always a space of at least a finger width under the chin.

SUPPORTED BACK

In all positions, baby’s back should be supported in a natural C curve, without slumping or arching, and without excess room between baby and wearer

Mabe houndstooth baby carrier

This is for my daughter who is expecting. We saw a mom using one of these when we were at a zoo and it looked amazing. My daughter thinks she is going to love it! It is made so well for comfort for the mom, and is so pretty, too!

Definitely best carrier I’ve ever used

This carrier was recommended to me by my sister and her second baby practically lived in it! I was needing something different especially with my now 1 yr old. Other carriers just weren’t working and she never liked being in them long. Now with the Mabe carrier she is so happy and content. I would recommend this 100x over. If you have been debating getting this carrier, just do it!

This is the second carrier I’ve purchased from mabe - highly recommend ! The colors and patterns are beautiful and the carrier is super supportive and comfy. I wish I had this carrier with my first 3!

Video consultation

I have a small newborn, just 4 weeks old & I felt like she was too small for the Carrier even though she was a little above 7 pounds, which is the minimum weight, so I had a video consultation & it was fantastic! Super helpful & now I know exactly how to wear my baby safely & comfortably - highly recommend the consult if you need any help or for reassurance that you're doing things properly :)
